Radha and Krishna on their meeting in the heart of Vrindavan are disturbed by the darkened, rain-filled clouds, and gather to be immersed in the ambrosia of the divine duo. Inspired by the Kangra paintings on Jaideva’s Gita Govinda, this watercolor on canvas painting by Gaurav Rajput depicts Radha-Krishna on a hilltop, huddled under an umbrella, as the nimbus clouds storm the skyline and thunder touches the ground, near the buildings on the right side of the canvas. On the left, a tree blooms beautifully, symbolizing the bloom of love in the heart of the heavenly couple.

The use of refined lines and vibrant colors, unveils the splendor of Vrindavan, in this artwork which also derives from the traditional Baramasa paintings, based on the depiction of the twelve months or seasons. The dark clouds, thunder, and Radha-Krishna as the ultimate Nayaka and Nayika (hero and heroine) representing the joy and exhilaration of the month of Sawan or monsoon make this painting a rich amalgamation of aesthetics of India.
